Pride of community shines through in Shelby's recreational facilities. Pools, parks, fitness facilities, and even a restored vintage carrousel and miniature train ride are meticulously maintained. It's one more reason why The Villages just feels like home.

Now undergoing construction to include even more facilities, Shelby City Park is the crown jewel of the City of Shelby's recreational facilities. The park features a beautifully restored vintage carousel originally handcrafted in 1919, now a year-round attraction housed in a custom-built pavilion. Kids (and kids at heart) can also enjoy the "Rotary Special" miniature train at Shelby City Park. Rides on either the carrousel or the train are just 50 cents each!

There are also numerous playgrounds and parks in the Shelby area including Holly Oak Park. The Cleveland County Family YMCA is another popular attraction, featuring a wealth of well-equipped facilities in both Shelby and nearby Boiling Springs, just a few minutes west of the city.
